R/V Lance was a Norwegian research/survey vessel which operated in the sea ice of the Arctic Ocean, around and north of Svalbard and in the Fram Strait (between Svalbard and East Greenland, 79°N) from spring to autumn up to 2016, when it was replaced by R/V Kronprins Haakon (KPH). The yearly expeditions included ocean monitoring of biological, physical and chemical parameters and processes.
